A Vintage Sports and Racing Car gathering will be held
at the 2002 Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, scheduled
for August 2, 3 and 4, 2002. The racing program for
the GP is as follows:
1. CART Formula Atlantic
2. American Le Mans Series (with prestigious cars and
drivers)
3. Trans-Am Series
4. Formula Ford (two races)
5. Speed World Challenge Series (GT and Touring classes)
This very rich and exciting racing week-end
will delight all motorsport enthusiasts and the general
public alike, and all will be invited to visit the paddock.
Canadian and international media will be present (RDS,
CTV Sports, Speed Channel, ESPN).
For the Vintage Event, held under the
auspices of VEA (Vintage European Automobiles, Montreal)
and to be promoted by organisers of the GP, we wish
to invite a number of interesting sports and racing
cars (25 years and over).
On Saturday August 3, our vintage cars
will be exhibited around the Piscine (one of the largest
pools in Canada) and in the adjacent park, a few steps
from the Circuit, in the heart of Trois-Rivières.
During the day, vintage cars will do parade laps, with
live commentary for the public to enjoy, and some may
be asked to participate in the driver's parade. Please
note that the prestigious American Le Mans Series race
will be held on Saturday. Those wishing to stay overnight
(many activities planned in town for Saturday) and exhibit
their cars on Sunday will be welcomed to do so. Limited
space will be available for campers in the park adjacent
to the Circuit.
All participants in the Vintage Event
will receive two free 3-day passes, with paddock access.
We are aiming to exhibit some 30 vintage
sports and racing cars and look forward to as many historic
and rare models as possible.
