BRUNCH - CROISIERE
WHAT A DAY !

by Bob Forest

9:15AM we were at Richard and Louise Boudrias, there parked waiting for us to arrive, Roy and Bea Gillings in their 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL. Richard, and Louise with their friend and neighbor always ready as usual, were backing out of the driveway, and on we went following Richard in his Traction Cabriolet. Following is maybe the wrong word, Roy ask me after we got to our destination, if our members had special permission to go through STOP signs. All I can say it is a thrill for me to follow Richard in that Traction. Anyone, who thinks Traction's don't move to fast, you better not follow Richard.

Now back to our day, we arrived at Old Port of Montreal, "Clock Tower Pier" about 9:55am and already a few cars had arrived, this right away is an indicator that this is going to be a great day.

The owners of the Boat tours made sure that we had a special spot for our classics. All the cars were in one spot, and it did not take long for 30 some cars to arrive. It was a very nice site to look at.
We had a good 45 minutes to talk and buy our tickets for the day. For $22.75 Taxes and Tips all included, this was a great deal.

At 11:15am we boarded the Nouvelle Orleans, some stayed out of the sun and others went to the upper deck to get a good view of the city, at this same time, juices were served to all the members. By the way, this was a special pickup for us at this point. Usually the Nouvelle Orleans picks up at the main dock were all the tourists are. So this was very convenient for us, to leave our cars and walk a few steps to the boat.

We left the dock to pick up some tourist at the main dock then departed from there for our tour. We were asked to go to the main deck dining room and there was a whole section reserved for us.

We all had a wonderful view at the same time; we were serenaded by a young woman with a very nice voice. She also played the piano and between songs gave description of the sights going by us. We learnt many things about Montreal and surrounding that we did not know.
The service for the brunch was excellent. Everyone I talked to, and that was a lot of people, enjoyed their day. They could not get over the value for the dollar.

Once we arrived at the main dock, we walked back to the parking and headed home. Top down, sun and beautiful weather. What more can a car enthusiast want.

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all the members, to thank Louise and Richard Boudrias for taking the time to organize this event.
Again, this is the reason the VEA is one of the finest car clubs in the World. For those who missed this event, try and make the next event coming up. Our events are always the best. We always have the best weather, the best cars, and the best members, so what could go wrong.
