CITROEN CLUB MERGING WITH VEA

by Richard Boudrias

V.E.A. – A FEDERATIVE CLUB?

You have perhaps noticed either at our monthly suppers or at different club events the presence more and more noticeable of Citroëns and, as a result, of Citroënists in the V.E.A. Also the list of new members published in the Autosiaste reflects this tendency.

Here is the reason: François Trottier, president of the “Club Citroën du Québec”, and well known V.E.A. member and myself have come to the obvious conclusion that his club should merge with us mainly because their small membership simply cannot support an infrastructure capable of satisfying the demands of their members. (Actually, most of them already are members of the V.E.A.)

This merge will allow the new members to preserve their DISTINCT ENTITY by having the exclusivity of one page of the Autosiaste, and by organizing a personalized Citroën event (July 8th) where all the other members will be invited. François Trottier will be the Director of this new section and will promote its expansion. It is a “win win” situation.

The V.E.A. is very conscious of its place in the vintage european automobile world in Québec and, as a result, sees its role becoming more and more of a federative nature and, therefore, is reaching out to other small single make clubs in order to make them aware of the benefits already recognized by the Citroënists.

As a trade off, the new members will bring new blood with new ideas to the club and to the executive committee. This exercise will bring a new outlook and possibly even a greater, stronger, and healthier future for the V.E.A.
