THE VEA MISHWEE
by Bob Forest
Saturday, August 24th,
is a Saturday that many members of the VEA will remember.
This Club Outing brought
over 20 cars, and most of them had an extra person. The
turn out was close to 40 some members with their guest.
After a breath taking scenic drive, we arrived at the
Bournival's residence, where the VEA sign indicated us
to go up the hill. Lise and Jocelyn were there getting
ready the Pig and ail the rest of the food that was to
be devoured by the members. It was an impressive sight
to see this immense pig on the pit. Turning at 2 rpm.
Even when it comes to pigs, Jocelyn talks in terms of
rpms and kilometers per hour. When you think of it, I
am sure the pig thought he was going somewhere.
Total time of cooking
was over 8 hrs. Jocelyn had to start at 6 am to get things
ready. He also mentioned that the pig had garlic only
in its rear end. This he had to do while he was chasing
the pig around the house. Lise was very upset as she thought
Jocelyn had bought the pig many months ago as a pet. The
pig could sit, roll over and fetch the morning paper.
I personaily think that they should of kept the pig as
a pet and cooked a large lamb. However, Willie the pig,
was very happy with the end results, as he saw that all
the members present, were having a great time.
All the cars were
parked on the lawn and the members had set up their favorite
picnic places. From any where we were sitting we had a
view of not only Willie going round and round, but we
could also see the cars. So what more could you want?
As you can see from the pictures the location was perfect.
Wine, beer and diet cokes where shared among friends.
I was not able to share my diet coke as I am the only
one that has the exquisite taste for this fine drink.
Many new members were
in attendance, they must have been impressed with this
outing and looking forward to many more.
Gaetan Ruel, our ever-loving President, gave a very heart
warming thank you speech for Lise and Jocelyn on behalf
of all of us, which made our day a memoriai one.
Again, and again, I have mentioned the many reasons why
it is an immense pleasure to belong to the VEA. Well,
this weekend was one of them. A group of car lovers, enjoying
taking their cars on a fine journey, guided by our renowned
Indian Guide Bernard Bellavance.
Then attending a sumptuous
meal, on a day where the weather was perfect, sunny, a
few clouds, some cool air to keep the old relics happy.
What more do you want for $35.00 a year? No flats you
say, well you got that included also.
The meal ended with large trays of fresh pick fruits and
delicious cakes. The apples were picked from their back
yard. The apple sauce was home made and made Willie taste
even better.
The members left around
6:30 pm for a safe and happy trip home. All with large
smiles from ear to ear.
