PRESIDENT'S
WORD
30th Birthday Special 2004
As your new president, it is for me a great pleasure but
also a new responsibility to communicate with you on a regular
basis through your favorite magazine. A pleasure, because
I feel that this communication tool offers me an opportunity
of fruitful dialogue regarding our shared passion for old
cars. A responsibility, because I consider that, together
with you, I should be attentive to potential governmental
decisions which could affect our preferred pass time in
a near future.
A pleasure also because I envisage for our Club more fun
activities, rallies, convivial picnics and friendly meals
after beautiful countryside outings. But may I stress that,
to do so, we need to support our voluntary organizers by
increasing our participation if we are to generate more
interesting events.
Furthermore, I feel that, insidiously, our cars are aging,
beautifully indeed but nevertheless aging, together with
us
Therefore, we should encourage new members along
with their 'newer cars' to join our Club even though some
of the older members consider Citroen CX, Peugeot 205 and
Alfa as almost new cars
Let us give a warm reception
to these new members
Finally, let me tell you about one of my old dreams
Every member of the VEA has drawers and shelves full of
documentation about their cars. I dream of a permanent VEA
location in an old heated garage were we could quietly consult
interesting documents comfortably seated in old discarded
chairs, with a coffee maker and an old fridge filled with
European beers
This is the essence of my dream
Sincerely VEA yours,
Jean-Jacques Treyvaud
