33rd ANNUAL EVENING
& ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

by Bernardo Pisarzewski

On the 13th of April 2007, the VEA held its 33rd annual banquet at the Hotel De La Montagne, more precisely, in the opulent Lutécia dining room. As usual, the members in attendance were dressed to the nines, and after a long and hard winter slumber, there was no shortage of friendly bantering.

The Masters of Ceremonies duties this year was handled by our activities director, Bernard Bellavance, with the occasional intercession from Richard Boudrias. Founding member Pierre-André Ouimet was on hand to preside over the task of the election of the board of directors. Not surprisingly, the board remains unchanged from last year. For the 6th consecutive year, Bernardo Pisarzewski gave an account of the VEA's financial situation. Needless to say, the club's finances are in good health…as well as in good hands!! Of course, no annual banquet is complete without a few words from the president, which Daniel Noiseux delivered with poise and awkward grace. If I say awkward, it's because those who are acquainted intimately with Mr. Noiseux, are all too familiar with his disdain for public speaking. And yet….he does it so well.

This year, the recipient of the Grand Voyager medal was none other than Michel Aubé from Williamsburgh Ontario. This should not come as a surprise, considering the distance he travels on a monthly basis to attend our informal gathering at the Saint-Ambroise.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to Daniel Noiseux, our president and owner of the Pizzaiolle Restaurants, for the magnificent door prizes that were offered.

Same time next year?
