APAL (Belgium) 1963-1995
Edmond Pery is the man who set up the firm Apal (Application Polyester
Armé Liège) in the year 1963 with the purpose to build replicas of the
most famous sportcars. The cars were built on the chassis of the VW
Kever and looked like the Porsche-Abarth. There followed coupés and
convertibles with Renault-engines and some of them had Porsche- or
Triumph-engines.
Between 1965 and 1967, there were built not less than
375 cars for the Formule V, in 1968 ten coupés with an engine in the mid and after that, there were built a lot of Dunebuggies.
Apals most known product is its version of the Porsche 356 Speedster.
