Beutler (Switzerland)
1945-1987
On the 8th of September
1987, one of the best and most known coach-work builder (for
cars) of Switzerland, the company Beutler in Thun, became
bankrupt. The brothers Fritz and Ernst Beutler, the first
was constructor and technician, the second drawer and designer,
had their company set up directly after the 2nd World War.
They occupied themselves most with building special bodies
on existing chassis.
The company started with
a Healey, a totally new make from England. After some Healeys
were delivered, they started to build a few specials on the
chassis of a Bristol.

In 1949, they produced
a serie convertibles on the chassis of the brand new Porsche
from Austria. Porsche remained a loyal supplier of chassis
and the brothers built several versions, for example a four
doors car.
Beutler built cars on
the chassis of the Volkswagen Kever, Simca, Porsche 356 and
other Porsches, the Jowett Jupiter, the MG Y and lots of other
cars.
