BUC, BUCCIALI (France) 1922-1933
The Bucciali brothers started making a small cyclecar under the name of Buc
at Courbevoie.
It was powered by a twin-cylinder two-stroke engine of 1340cc. It was
followed in 1925 by a 1600cc SCAP-engined car available in two versions:
Tourisme and Quatre Speciale supercharged. They also built a 1500cc
six-cylinder car.
In 1928 the Buccialis made cars which caused a great
sensation: the TAN six-cylinder and an eight-cylinder front-wheel-drive
with Sensaud de Lavaud automatic gearbox. This attempt was followed in
the 1930s by the Double Huit, also fwd, powered by two straight-eight
Continental engines mounted side by side. The last of these prototypes
was made with a Voisin 12-cylinder engine. Very few
of these fwd Bucciali cars ever reached the road.
