FORD (France) 1947-1954
Ford-France resumed production post-war in a purpose-built plant at Poissy
(Seine), but the car they introduced, the 2158cc·V8 Vedette, an
American-styled full-width fastback with ifs, was sadly out of tune with
post-war demands for economy.
Elegant Facel-bodied Comète versions were
available from 1952, but two years later Ford sold Poissy to Simca,
who continued to build the V8 as the Simca Vedette.
