Between them Jem MARsh and Frank COStin contrived to build one of the prettiest sports cars of all time, the Marcos Volvo (the same shell was subsequently fitted with a variety of Ford engines. Marsh alone must take responsibility for the ugly but nonetheless successful Mini-Marcos, also the Dennis Adams-styled Mantis with which Marcos were forced to close their books after 32 had been built. From the very first plywood Marcos to the perhaps ahead-of-its-time Mantis, Marcos were originators of the first order. Marsh has bought back the moulds and some interesting examples of the other models and now spends his time restoring and making spares for his early creations. ©VEA
